Fishing With Dad

This summer, we found a great fishing place at Taylorsville Lake. We got up early in morning before the sun was even up and drove to the lake where we had to hike down a wooded trail for about 2 miles...in the dark...carrying our fishing poles and tackle box.

One time we caught a huge catfish using a live night crawler. It was so big that it stretched from below my waiste to my chin! Here's a picture to prove it:

I really like fishing at Taylorsville Lake because Dad and I get to spend time together and have fun fishing. We also stop at a gas station on the way and get food and worms.

Here are some more pictures of me fishing:

I thought I had a big one...but it turned out to be a tree stump.

Dad has taught me how to cast pretty good.

Another time, we went to Clark State Forest in Indiana on a Sunday afternoon. We caught a large mouth bass using a top water lure. It wasn't nearly as big as the catfish, but it was fun to reel in. KaraBeth caught a pearch on her pole.

As always, Addie likes to go fishing with us and we like her to be there too.

Location, Location, Location

Sometimes you just find yourself at the right place at the right time. Today was one of those days! Right across the street from our house is a church that has a huge front lawn. The community we live in has a picnic every year on this church lawn and today was the day! There was free barbeque (from Famous Dave's) and air castles to jump in. But best of all was Fire Engine #31 from the St. Matthews Fire Department!

We knew something was up when the fire truck pulled up and they connected the hoses to the fire hydrant in our front yard. The next thing we knew...the sky was filled with water!

The St. Matthews Yankees

Braden has begun a new baseball season with a new team in a new town. The league held tryouts in February and, much to his delight, he was drafted by the Yankees! We live in a community within Louisville called St. Matthews which has its own Little League chapter. To begin the season, they have a parade through town that ends at the fields where opening day ceremonies as games are held. Here's some parade pictures:

The Yankees opening day opponent was the Mets. Braden played several different positions and went 1 for 2 with two RBI, two stolen bases, and one run scored. He also got a lot of action in the field. Take a look:

According to Braden...it was a very good day.

Snow Again!!!

We Big Country Texans are confused! We keep waking up to all this white stuff covering the ground! We got 11" this time. It snowed almost continually Friday and Saturday. The kids are loving it, and Edward and I have enjoyed the slower pace of life as various events have been cancelled. It's been nice to have the extended family time. We've played in the snow and made some great snow ice cream. Here are a few pics:

Snow Day!

This winter has brought a lot of snowy days. But last week was the real thing! It snowed so much that Dad's classes were cancelled! Dad said that even grown men like snow days just like kids do. The snow was really deep and we had a lot of fun in it at our new house. We can't wait for the next big snow and we hope it will be this winter still.

Three Amigos, again!

We nailed Dad with snow balls!

We also got to go sledding at "Dog Hill" in Cherokee Park. We have been wanting to do this since last summer when we first moved here and saw this giant hill. We finally got our chance!
The hill was so steep, Kara Beth wouldn't ride down it without Daddy on the sled with her. Addie ran up and down the hill following us on the sled all day long. Her claws gave her good traction and she could go up and down without falling. When we got home, she slept the whole night without moving. She fell asleep right in front of her water bowl after getting a drink.

I think going on your belly is better than sitting on the sled. Sitting is not as good because you can easily lose your ballance and fall over on the way down. On your belly, you can steer the sled with your feet!

Home

God blessed us in 2007 by moving us to Kentucky and He started our 2008 with the blessing of a new home. The day after our return from a 2,800 mile round trip to Texas, we began moving. . . without complaining! We are blessed with adequate space and privacy and really feel like we've settled in to living in Louisville.

Here are some pictures of the house. Please join us in praising God for His provision at just the right time (His time).
