Clark State Forest

Braden: We went into Indiana to the Clark State Forest. We climbed up into a forest fire lookout tower! It was so high that you could see forever and the truck and Addie looked like ants down below! We also went to a lake in the forest and found a good fishing spot to come back to one day soon. I found a trail in the woods and it went along a mountain top and there were several trees that had fallen down across the trail that we had to climb over. We think this will be a good place to come camping and I hope we can do it soon!

Kara Beth: I liked all the butterflies and trees. We also found a horse camp where a lot of cowboys were camping with their horses. During the day they went through the woods on horse trails with their horses. It was really pretty and I want to go there with a horse someday too. The fire lookout tower was so high that it was scary. Addie looked like an ant on the ground and I wanted to get down very fast.

Looking out!
Looking down!

There are probably some big fish in this lake!

Shaker Village

We spent the most beautiful day with Mom / Nana at Shaker Village outside Pleasant Hill, KY, about an hour's drive from here. When I (Jennifer) was a child, our family stopped here on a road trip vacation to the east coast. It was so good to get to go back again with Mom and my own kids, too. What a charming place!

They have people in costume showing and explaining how the Shakers lived here in the 1800's. This man was a cobbler and was making shoes using wooden pegs instead of nails. He gave each of us a chance to drive a peg into the sole of a shoe. It's harder than it looks!

More pictures . . .

A big, huge thank you to Nana for a memory-making day!

Horse Farms

We recently took my mom and dad to some horse farms in the Lexington area when they were in town to visit. You would think Kara Beth would felt like she was in heaven itself, but she met up with a cat that seemed to captivate her undivided attention. Nevertheless, she did enjoy the horses and has greatly improved her impersonation of them in daily life as a result of our experience.
